Good morning,
TONIGHT is going to be an interesting evening at our church. The Republican Party is using our building to host a debate between the congressional candidates for the 2nd District. The primary is Tuesday, June 5th. In order to make an informed decision, this event may be your best chance to meet and hear these men. If you plan to vote in the primary election, you may want to come tonight. The debate activities begin at 6:15 PM.
Saturday morning there will be work in the arena and in the front of the church (landscaping). If you could come and help it would be great to get that job finished. The south side looks very nice now and the north side….looks like it needs help! Works begins at 8:00 AM.
This Sunday we will recognize seniors. If you have a senior in your family please encourage them to come.
On Sunday, May 27th, we will have baby dedication. If you have a baby that you would like to have dedicated to the Lord, please call the church office with your child’s information.
FROM THE SUNDAY SCHOOL DEPARTMENT:
*We are asking everyone to bring some canned goods for the Lord’s Cupboard. (LAST SUNDAY)
*This Sunday Meridel will give a final report and encourage us to keep coming to Sunday School!
SUNDAY NIGHT ACTIVITIES:
*On May 20th (this Sunday night) we will be having our Annual Meeting. This is not just for
members. Most of the work will be done and we will be sharing our vision for the coming year.
You do not have to be a member to come to this meeting. You will learn more about how the
church operates in one hour than you will in a year of attending and never becoming involved.
Here are some prayer requests: My younger sister had surgery on May 15th. The last time I talked to her she had not gotten the pathology report back. Pray for Dan Johnson's mother, Mary Lou, she is home from the hospital but continues to have health needs that will require further treatment. Continue to pray for Meryle Brown and Geneva Chamblee as they are both taking chemo. I just talked to Geneva and she got a good report on her cancer cell count. It was down a good amount. She has not been being as sick from the chemo, but her white cell count is down because of the chemo so she can’t get around people too much right now due to the low white cell count. She said to THANK EVERYONE for their prayers! She feels them working and was praising God this morning.
Tom Warner’s sister Sandra, that we mentioned last week, passed away. Please remember that family. Also, Tom and Merilee Bratz’s granddaughter Lacy and her boy-friend were injured in a car accident near Knoxville this week. Lacy is home but the young man Tyler, is still in the hospital. Tom shared that the trooper told them God had to be involved because by looking at the car, they could have easily been killed. Both of the young people were removed with the jaws of life! GOD IS GOOD!
May 27th is Pentecost. Pray that God will pour His Holy Spirit out on us again fresh and new!
Take a moment to read 2 Kings 4: 1 – 6. The woman who had a miraculous amount of oil provided for her family. But verse 6 says, when there were no more empty vessels, the oil CEASED TO FLOW! Now read 1 Thessalonians 4: 1 - 4. V. 4 says that we should know how to possess our own vessel (meaning our lives) in sanctification and honor. Do you know how to possess your vessel? Bring it before God EMPTY and let Him fill it. Maybe He needs to RE-FILL some vessels. That is a great devotion for today. God bless each one of you.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Chapman
